Our cultivars are all strictly native, but special mention must be made of CRASTU, a variety that grows in a very limited area between the provinces of Messina and Palermo, registered in the list of rare cultivars. It is so rare that when it came time to replant, no nursery was able to find seedlings that were even one year old.
So we decided to prepare grafts (portions of branches with buds) from our centuries-old mother plants to graft onto wild rootstocks to be planted the following year. We thus obtained a young olive grove that is an identical copy of our beloved centuries-old trees.
